During the past decade, Franklin Dexter and his colleagues have developed much of the science in anesthesia group and operating room management. Dr. Dexter completed a Sc.B. in Applied Mathematics & Biology with Honors from Brown University; Masters Degree & Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, with specialization in biomathematics, from Case Western Reserve University; M.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine; and Anesthesiology residency at the University of Iowa. He is Professor in the Departments of Anesthesia and Health Management & Policy at the University of Iowa. Twice a year, he teaches an intensive course in operating room management at the University. He is Editor of the Section on Economics, Education, and Policy of the journal Anesthesia & Analgesia. He has published more than 200 papers in the fields of operating room management and anesthesia. He has given more than 105 invited presentations. As Director of the Division of Management Consulting in the Department of Anesthesia, he has performed more than 200 consultations, for more than 25 companies and 65 hospitals. Mikko Järvilehto is currently a special researcher at the Department of Information Science at the University of Oulu. He has given speeches and written about premises of open innovation management, citizen-innovation and open innovation brokering, both in public and in academia. Mikko works also as an Executive Manager of Innovillage Association, which is an innovation intermediator dedicated, since 2003, for the development of citizen-based innovation worldwide through means of citizen-organisation dialogue with ICT -tool support. He’s the founder in innovation consultancy & tool software business called Invicor Ltd. He is preparing Ph.D focusing open innovation processes, brokering, incentives and communication.
